The Regent of Abagana and a former Presidential Aspirant, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze has called for the sustenance of the US-Nigeria strikes on terrorists until they are flushed out of the Country.
While commending the Christmas Day strikes on the criminals by the armed forces of the United States in conjunction with their Nigerian counterparts, Anakwenze called for the arrest and prosecution of Mallam Sheikh Gumi, who has been openly supporting the bandits and condemning efforts by Nigeria and her partners to crush terrorism in the Country.
In a statement signed by him on Monday, the former Presidential Aspirant said that “the administration of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, deserves the support of all well-meaning Nigerians for the courageous step taken to combat and crush the terrorists.”
Anakwenze said: “I, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze wholly support the US-Nigeria Christmas Day strikes on terrorists at their hideouts in the Nortwest.
“For too long, the law-abiding people of Nigeria who are in the majority, have been subjected to too frequent bloody terrorist attacks, kidnap for ransom, wanton killings and destruction in which hundreds of innocent victims are slaughtered like animals, especially in the North and across the country with an alarming frequency,
“The Tinubu administration deserves commendation and support of all well-meaning Nigerians for collaborating with the United States and our other partners in facilitating the strikes on those criminals who have turned many parts of our country to killing fields, and instilled fears in the law abiding citizens of our great Country.
“In fact, President Bola Tinubu deserves a garland wreath from all well-meaning Nigerians for this noble effort to crush terrorism in whatever part of the country, and realign Nigeria with terror-free nations across the world.
“The Governments of Nigeria and United States, and in fact any other friendly powers willing to join in helping to free our Country of terrorism, should not relent in the strikes against terrorists. They should sustain the strikes until terrorism is crushed and wiped out from any part of Nigeria.
“There should be no negotiation with the criminals as being canvassed in some quarters. Only force as exemplified in consistent land and aerial strikes against them by higher and coordinated powers, is the language the criminals understand. They should be wiped out of Nigeria wherever they hide because they have no respect for human lives.
“In view of the hundreds of innocent Nigerians that have been slaughtered for many years by these terrorists, who have been operating freely under successive weak governance until the emergence of the courageous present administration, I urge our courageous President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, not to relent in collaborating with friendly world powers, led by the United States in rescuing innocent Nigerians from the jaws of terrorism with the irreparable damage wreaked over the years.
“While calling for consistent and sustained strikes on, and bombardments of terrorists wherever they are hiding in our Country, I call international collaboration for the arrest of collaborators, supporters and financiers or patrons of terrorists in Nigeria, wherever they are lurking in any part of the world, and deportation to Nigeria for prosecution for their heinous crimes of many years against our innocent and harmless people.
“Principal among these patrons and supporters of terrorism in Nigeria is the self-styled negotiator with terrorists and one of their ardent supporters, Mallam Sheikh Gumi who has been going about condemning the strikes, and advocating negotiation with terrorists who he described as “part of us and we are part of them”, who should be placated.
“Furthermore, anybody who shares Gumi’s view on the ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to once and for all tackle the terrorists frontally, and cleanse Nigeria of these heartless criminals, should also be arrested and prosecuted as financiers, sponsors and protectors of terrorists.
“Severity alone should be adopted and used by the Tinubu administration and friendly countries in dealing with these criminals and scums of the earth.
“The terrorists do not want peace. So they too do not deserve peace either. They do not want innocent and law-abiding Nigerians to live. They too do not deserve to live.
“Terror should be taken to every of their hideouts in the country. They should be met with greater terror being coordinated by the blessed President Trump of the United States in partnership with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, until they are wiped out of Nigeria.”
United States President Donald Trump had on Thursday disclosed that his country’s forces conducted deadly strikes against Islamic State terrorists in Northwestern Nigeria, and vowed more attacks if the militants keep killing Christians.
He had made the disclosure on his Truth Social platform, saying his country’s Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes on the terrorists at their hideouts in Northwest.
Also on Friday, the Federal Government confirmed the air strikes as resulting from collaboration with Nigeria.
Besides, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters noted that the strikes represented one of the most significant known instances of active US military involvement on Nigerian soil in the ongoing fight against Islamist-linked terrorist factions and bandits.
The US military’s involvement in counter-terrorism operations in West Africa has increased in recent years, notably through intelligence support, logistical assistance, drone surveillance, and targeted strikes against high-profile terror leaders.
