Ex-Ondo deputy governor Ajayi quits PDP, rejoins APC

Ondo State

Years after dumping the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to pursue his governorship ambition, a former Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi has returned to the ruling party.

He was the PDP’s candidate in the 2024 governorship election in the state, and he served in the APC administration led by the departed Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

Ajayi formally rejoined the APC at his Apoi Ward 2, Kiribo, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

After rejoining the party, he said that his decision was driven by his desire to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the APC and to back President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office in 2027.

He described the move as a reaffirmation of his loyalty to the party, adding that it would allow him to participate more actively in its programmes and activities.

Ajayi also stated that his return was motivated by his intention to support the EASE Agenda of Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and alongside President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
