Ex-convict arrested for raping minor in Osun

Amotekun Corps operatives have arrested a 30-year-old ex-convict for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Aogun in the Boripe Local Government Area of the state.

He was arrested soon after he allegedly lured the victim to an uncompleted building where he reportedly raped her.

It was learned that the girl raised an alarm during the intercourse which drew the attention of the residents who quickly called the attention of the Boripe Command of Amotekun Corps to the incident.

The operatives immediately swung into action and arrested the felon on the spot.

Addressing newsmen in Osogbo on the incident, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said the suspect was arrested after raping the victim in Ada after he had lured her to an uncompleted building.

He explained that the girl raised an alarm during the process which drew the attention of the residents of the area who quickly rushed to the scene of the incident and met the girl with blood coming out of her private part.

He added that the residents called the attention of Amotekun operatives to the incident, who swung into action immediately and arrested the suspect on the spot.

According to him, the suspect who admitted that he committed the offense, was an ex-convict who was jailed for three months in the past for stealing.

The commander said the suspect had been handed over to the police for interrogation and prosecution.

Adewinmbi appealed to residents of the state to report any suspicious movement in their areas to security agents for prompt action adding that the job of effective crime detection, prevention, and control is for everybody.
