The Deputy Editor of The Guardian, Mr Julius Omokioja Eto has been appointed the Editor of Daily Times, Nigeria’s oldest newspaper.

His appointment, which was announced by the Managing Director of Folio Communications Limited, publishers of the newspaper, Mr Aliu Akoshile, is part of efforts to reposition the Daily Times.

The company also named Dr. Ise-Oluwa Ige as Chairman, Editorial Board/Group Managing Editor; and Mr Sam Nzeh as Standards/Special Publications Editor.

The appointments, which took effect from July 1, 2020, would, according to Akoshile, “herald the beginning of the next phase of the revival and repositioning of Daily Times.”

Eto holds a 1995 Masters degree in Political Science from the University of Lagos, and a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, NIJ, among others.

He served on the Sub Desk of The Guardian, rising through the ranks to become the News Editor until his last duty post as Deputy/Associate Editor of the Flagship of the Nigerian media.

On his own, Ige holds a 2016 doctorate degree in Communication and Language Arts from the University of Ibadan.

Also, until his new appointment, Nzeh was the Editor of Daily Times.
