Brume moved right into the lead, jumping 6.97 meters on her first try. But she came behind Brittney Reese after leaping 6.67 meters in the second jump and fouling her third.
She, however, pulled ahead again with 6.88 meters on her fourth attempt, just a fraction of Reese’s 6.87 meters.
Mihambo, who was in the third position, however, jumped ahead of both Brume and Reese with a last-gasp 7-meter leap to clinch the gold medal.
