The Governing Council of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa Oke, has dismissed as erroneous and misleading a report suggesting that a protest was staged against the recent appointment of an Acting Rector for the institution.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Council, Prince Diran Odeyemi, the Council clarified that the appointment of the Acting Rector was carried out in full compliance with the law establishing the institution. He warned that any actions capable of inciting unrest or disrupting public peace would not be tolerated.

Prince Odeyemi described the protest report as false and unfounded, adding that an investigation has been launched to identify those behind the misinformation. He assured that any individuals found culpable would be handed over to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.

“The public is advised to disregard the baseless claims. The Council followed due process in appointing the Acting Rector. We will not allow anyone to sow discord or create panic within the institution,” he said.

The Council Chairman also cautioned media outlets to ensure proper verification of information before publication, stressing that irresponsible reporting could serve the agenda of individuals with selfish motives.

He further admonished staff of the institution to avoid actions contrary to the terms of their employment, warning that disciplinary measures would be taken against any erring personnel, regardless of their rank.

Reassuring stakeholders — including the academic community, host community, parents, guardians, and students — Prince Odeyemi emphasized that the environment at OSCOTECH remains conducive for academic excellence.

He reiterated the Council’s support for Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke’s educational vision, affirming the institution’s commitment to upholding high academic standards and contributing meaningfully to the development goals of the state.
