It was a solemn yet dignified farewell as the remains of the departed Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration, Joseph Olutayo Dada, were laid to rest over the weekend at his residence along Ijebu-Jesa Road, Ilesa, Osun State.

The burial followed a funeral service held in his honour at the Foursquare Gospel Church, Iludun Area, Ilesa.

ACG Dada, aged 58, passed away on August 10, 2025, at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after a brief illness. His death came shortly after his elevation to the prestigious rank of Assistant Comptroller General in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). He was a sibling of Joshua Dada, Osun State Correspondent for LEADERSHIP Newspapers.

In a tribute delivered on behalf of the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nana-Nandap, ACG Mohammed Adamu described the Dada as a committed and principled officer whose professional legacy would endure within the Service and the nation at large.

He said, “His professional journey was marked by diligence, discipline, and high dedication that earned him the respect of colleagues and subordinates alike. He gave his best to the Service.

“Today, we celebrate the life of a man whose impact and leadership will be felt in the Nigeria Immigration Service for years to come.”

Also paying tribute at the burial were top officials of the NIS and representatives from state governments.

In his own tribute, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Barrister Samuel Ojo, described Dada’s passing as a painful loss not only to his family but also to Osun State and the entire nation.

“The news of ACG Dada’s death came to us as a painful shock. He served with honour, diligence, and unwavering dedication. He embodied the values of hard work, integrity, and patriotism for which Osun is known,” Adeleke stated.

Representing the Oyo State Governor, ACG Rasheed Adegoke and his wife were also in attendance, along with other dignitaries from the immigration community and beyond.

Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada Adewoye expressed deep appreciation to the Nigeria Immigration Service, especially under the leadership of CG Kemi Nana-Nandap, for their support since the demise of their loved one.

She made a heartfelt plea for the prompt processing of the late officer’s entitlements and humbly presented names of some close family members to the NIS leadership for consideration for employment — a gesture, she noted, would have meant a lot to the late ACG Dada.
