Elizade University, Ilara Mokin, is broadening its research frontiers through strategic international collaborations spanning six countries, with a strong focus on advancing solutions aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A statement by the university’s spokesman, Mr Williams Olufunmi, said that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Philip Oguntunde, announced this development while receiving a delegation from the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), who paid him a courtesy visit.
Besides, he expressed appreciation for what he described as a show of solidarity and goodwill, noting that Elizade University is actively exploring research partnerships with universities in Spain, Germany, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and other countries.
Oguntunde said that the University’s renewed research drive is strategically targeted at addressing critical global and local challenges encapsulated within the SDGs’ thematic areas.
A cording to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor “emphasized that expanded research collaboration, particularly across institutions, is essential to delivering sustainable solutions to pressing societal problems, not only in developing nations but across the globe.
“Professor Oguntunde also extended a hand of partnership to FUTA, proposing deeper collaboration in research programmes that cut across the 17 SDG thematic areas.
“He noted that synergy between institutions with shared academic visions would significantly strengthen innovation, knowledge exchange, and impactful community engagement.”
FUTA’s Head of the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Prof Richard Falayi who led the delegation, described Profo Oguntunde as an erudite scholar whose influence continues to resonate positively across academia.
He stated that the visit aimed at reaffirming their unalloyed support for the Vice-Chancellor in his leadership of Elizade University.
In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor also received seven Heads of Departments from FUTA’s School of Infrastructure, Minerals and Manufacturing Engineering.
The team, led by former FUTA Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Profe Aremu Akintunde, assured him of their collective support in advancing the core mandates of teaching, research and community service.
Also, Prof Akintunde described Prof Oguntunde as “a precious brand” whom the entire FUTA community is proud of, adding that both institutions stand to benefit immensely from strengthened teaching and research collaboration for the greater good of society.
Olufunmi said that “the engagements signal a renewed era of academic partnership and research expansion for Elizade University, positioning the institution as an emerging hub for impactful, globally connected scholarship.”
