Egbetokun arrives Kigali for East African police chiefs meeting

Police Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, for the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Holding from January 28 to 31, the meeting brings together police chiefs, law enforcement officials, and security stakeholders worldwide to discuss strategies for combating transnational crime and enhancing regional security.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said Egbetokun is attending the conference in his capacity as the Chairperson of the West Africa Police Chiefs Committee (WAPCCO).
He is accompanied by CP Interpol, CP Olaolu Adegbite, and other senior police officers.

EAPCCO AGM provides a platform for countries to discuss operational policies, review cooperative initiatives, and adopt resolutions aimed at strengthening international policing efforts.

The statement said: “During the conference, the IGP will engage with national and international law enforcement representatives to exchange insights on improving public safety, security, and addressing emerging criminal trends.

“His participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering global security partnerships and collaborative policing efforts.

“As part of his agenda, IGP Egbetokun will highlight Nigeria’s ongoing policing initiatives, focusing on enhanced intelligence sharing, capacity building, and community engagement.

“His presence at the AGM is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s ties with other African nations and promote collective efforts in tackling security challenges across the continent.

“The EAPCCO Annual General Meeting remains a crucial forum for law enforcement leaders to enhance international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime.”
