A former Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Tourism in the administration of the late Chief Adebayo Adefarati and ex-Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ondo State, Chief Korede Duyile, has been elected Chairman of the apex Yoruba sociopolitical organisation, Afenifere in Ondo State.
He will chair a new state executive committee of the organisation as approved by the its leadership, according to a statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr Remi Olayiwola.
Duyile, also a former State Secretary of Afenifere, takes over from the literary giant, celebrated school principal and ex-National Chairman of ANCOPPS, Basorun Seinde Arogbofa.
The new state exco also includes a former Chairman of Akure North Local Government, Chief Bayo Fajemilua as Deputy State Chairman; a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Bakita Bello, (Secretary); a former Chairman of Ondo State Housing Corporation and former Governorship aspirant, Prince Adebanjo Edema (Treasurer); Barrister Dele Thomas (Legal Adviser); Mr Kehinde Fasoranti (Financial Secretary); Mrs Janet Obanla (Women Affairs); Comrade Eric Oluwole (Organising Secretary); and a former Deputy Editor of Daily Times on Saturday, Mr Remi Olayiwola (State Publicity).
According to the statement: “Handing over to the new Chairman, Chief Duyile, Chief Seinde Arogbofa described him as a loyal, efficient and highly experienced member of the Afenifere.
“Chief Arogbofa urged the new Executive Committee to maintain the tempo of service to the people for which Afenifere has been known since its formation about seventy years ago.
“Chief Duyile thanked the leadership of the Afenifere that deemed him fit for the post and promised to carry on the excellent job of his predecessor with whom he had worked for many years.”
