Veteran banker and founder of the defunct Diamond Bank Plc, who was also a former chairman of the telecommunication giant, MTN Nigeria, Pascal Dozie, has passed on.
A statement issued on Tuesday by his family according to The Punch, said the business tycoon died on Monday at the age of 85.
He reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, just a day to his 86th birthday.
Dozie, who was the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University established Diamond Bank in 1990. The company later became one of Nigeria’s most respected financial institutions.
He was once the President of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, then known as the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
The deceased was born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, and began his career as an economist at the National Economic Development Office in the United Kingdom.
