The Federal High Court sitting in Akure has reserved judgment in a suit filed by members of the Ondo State Working Committee (SWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the National Executive Committee of the party over the dissolution of the body.
The date was fixed by the court at the resumed sitting of the Court in Akure on Monday (March 8th, 2021).
At the resumed sitting, the State Secretary of the party, Dr Shola Agboola and the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Remi Olayiwola who are among the plaintiffs, were present while Prof Tunde Adeniran. Mr Gabam and Dr Olu Agunloye who are among the defendants, were conspicuously absent.
Only one of the defendants was in court when the case was called.
Apparently surprised that the counsel to the defendants was again not in court like the last time the case came up, the judge asked one of the defendants present why the lawyer handling their case was not in court.
His response was that the lawyer told him that he would be present, adding that he was equally surprised at the absence of their lawyer.
However, counsel to the plaintiffs, told the court that he was prepared to continue with the case.
The judge then reserved judgment in the suit till April 22, 2021.
The leader of the party in Ondo state, Chief Korede Duyile, was among the numerous SDP chieftains who were in court in sympathy with the plaintiffs.
Some other SDP members were also in court.
