President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the suspension of 12 directors and top staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with immediate effect.
Attorney General of the Federation and Justice minister, Abubakar Malami, communicated the notice to the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Umar, on Tuesday night.
It was learnt that the suspension is to disallow any hindrance in the ongoing probe of the agency’s suspended Acting Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
This development has heightened anxiety in the commission with some of those affected claiming that they were not directly involved in Magu’s administration.
