The Buhari/Osinbajo Continuity Group has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari for running a successful, peaceful presidential election which has seen the him emerged as the president-elect.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by its Director of Communications, Mr Steve Otaloro, the group wished President Buhari well in his second term.
The statement said that BOCOG Director General, Prince Diran Iyantan noted with satisfaction a report by the Election Observer Mission comprising of observers from African Union and the European Union that the election was “conducted in an orderly and professional manner, also, within the requirements of the legal framework of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
It said: “According to Prince Iyantan, this confirms that Nigerians are committed to a true democratic processes and that President Muhammadu Buhari strongly supports national reconciliation, socio-economic development and a lasting political solution to election problems in Nigeria.
“Flowing from our history of struggle to achieve an inclusive and a democratic constitutional order, we will continue to work with President Muhammadu Buhari and with other international partners to support the people and the government of President Buhari.”
It said that President Buhari’s “victory is an affirmation of the level of confidence Nigerians have in him and BOCOG promised to work with him to advance the interest of Nigerians.”
It described President his re-election as “a testimony to the level of confidence that you enjoy among the people of Nigeria, attributable to your wisdom, experience in politics, sense of engagement and devotion to the service and the protection of the interests of the country especially as it relates to the prosperity, well-being and security of your people”
According to the statement: “It is on this premise, and coupled with the confidence reposed in President Muhammadu Buhari, that members of our group (BOCOG) have deployed their personal resources to work for President Buhari in all the thirty six states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“We, therefore, enjoined our members nationwide to return to the campaign field to ensure victory for all APC governors and House of Assembly members throughout the federation in the coming elections.”
