Mr. Sola Fasure, a media aide to the Action Democratic Congress’ interim national secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has lambasted Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for attacking his principal.
Adeleke had in a statement by his spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed described Aregbesola as the worst governor that has ever ruled the state.e
Reacting, Fasure said Adeleke’s statement was “a new low” and a ploy for the governor to be accepted in the All Progressives Congress that he is allegedly making move to join.
Adeleke’s rumoured planned defection to the APC has created cracks among the PDP supporters, cabinet members and the opposition APC who have vowed to resist his entrance into their party.
APC national secretary, who is also a governorship aspirant in the state, Ajibola Basiru had told reporters that whoever President Bola Tinubu chose as the flag-bearer will be supported by all.
This statement has been interpreted to mean that Adeleke might be chosen to be the flag bearer if eventually he decamps .
hTough Adeleke has denied any plan to defect to APC ahead of the 2026 governorship election, Fasure, in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, apparently reacting to Adeleke’s statement that Aregbesola is the worst governor Osun has ever produced, told Adeleke that he is not wanted in APC.
Fasure wrote, “A new low: Attacking Aregbesola in order to be accepted by APC. I am not sure they still want you.”
A supporter of Adeleke who spoke under condition of anonymity said if the governor joins APC he will lose majority of his supporters.
He said the hovernor needs not insult Aregbesola because he helped him to defeat Former Governor Gboyega Oyetola by allowing Omoluabi group who where in APC to vote for PDP during last governorship election .
His words “Aregbesola remains a figure in Osun politics and whoever he supports will become the next governor of the state come August 8 2026. There will be exodus of both PDP and APC in Osun if the Governor decamps to APC.
” Again some of his Cabinet members are not happy on the move of the governor planning to dump the party that made him. Many people believed that it is not in the mind of the Governor to go to APC.
” instead of APC the governor should have joined ADC which is the credible alternative party at the moment. It would have been better the Governor moves to ADC, contest and fail rather than APC which many Nigerians accused of bringing untold hardship to them through anti-people’s polices.”
