The Omoluabi Progressives, a grassroots-based political movement in Osun State, has congratulated the people of the state and Nigerians at large on the emergence of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The group spoke in a statement signed by Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun, the Publicity and Organizing Secretary of the Omoluabi Progressives, on behalf of the group’s Chairman, Alhaji Isaa Adesiji Azeez.
It described the development as “a new dawn not only for the ADC but also for the democratic journey of Nigeria.”
According to Alhaji Azeez, the appointment of Aregbesola, a former Governor of Osun State and former Minister of Interior — to the strategic position of National Secretary of the ADC is a testament to his enduring commitment to service, excellence, and the advancement of the Nigerian people.
“This significant development marks a new chapter in the journey toward a more people-centered, accountable, and visionary political leadership in Nigeria,” Alhaji Azeez stated. “It is a strong signal that the ADC is committed to rekindling hope and rekindling the values of true democracy, equity, and grassroots development.”
He highlighted Aregbesola’s distinguished political career and achievements, including his revolutionary educational reforms in Osun, infrastructural expansion projects, and passionate advocacy for the poor and marginalized.
“We believe Ogbeni Aregbesola’s wealth of experience, his proven track record in governance, his dedication to progressive values, and his tireless service to the people will bring renewed credibility, energy, and direction to the ADC at the national level,
“He is not just a politician; he is a movement builder and a visionary who speaks the language of the common people.”
The Omoluabi Progressives also called on well-meaning Nigerians — especially youths, workers, and community leaders — to rally behind the new leadership of the ADC as the 2026 general elections draw closer.
Azeez emphasized the need for strategic grassroots mobilization, voter education, and mass registration, especially in Osun State, to ensure that a truly people-oriented government emerges in the next political cycle.
“We call on everyone who desires a better Nigeria to come on board. Let us get organized, get involved, and prepare to elect a leadership that will uplift Osun State and transform the lives of our people for the better.”
He also made a passionate appeal to those who have not yet registered to vote to take advantage of the upcoming voter registration window being facilitated by INEC.
“2026 is around the corner, and it is a historic opportunity to usher in new leadership — leadership that will identify with the vision of lifting the working class out of poverty, improving security, ensuring meaningful infrastructure development, banishing hunger, and giving Osun State the facelift it rightly deserves,” he noted.
Also, he called for unity among progressive forces across the country, urging Nigerians not to lose hope in the democratic process despite the prevailing challenges.
“Together, we can rebuild our nation — a Nigeria rooted in justice, equity, and the core democratic values that inspired our heroes past. Let us all rise in support of the new ADC leadership and work collectively towards a future that our children will be proud of.”
Aregbesola’s emergence as National Secretary is already being hailed in political circles as a strategic move that could reposition the ADC as a credible alternative to the dominant parties and give voice to millions of Nigerians yearning for change.
For the Omoluabi Progressives and many others across the nation, this is more than a congratulatory message — it is a call to action, a reaffirmation of hope, and a clear signal that the winds of transformation are once again blowing across Osun State and Nigeria.
