Arapaja joins Oyinlola, Oladipo in PDP deputy national chairmanship race

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has joined the race to contest for the Deputy National Chairmanship position of the party.

His media aide, Ibrahim Bamitele, said in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Wednesday that his principal would contest the election at the PDP National Convention.

He explained that Arapaja’s decision to contest was borne out of the great idea of repositioning the party to greater heights.

He added that Arapaja participated at the screening of all participants at the Legacy House in Abuja.

He was silent on whether Arapaja had resigned his position as the zonal chairman of the party or would do that before the convention date.

Former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State and a former National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo, are the only two aspirants that have so far shown intention to conest the office.

The statement read, “In order to bring normalcy back to our fold and after due consultation with party faithful, members, leaders and stakeholders, today, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja participated in the screening of all aspirants for the forthcoming National Convention at Legacy House, Abuja.
