Ogundiran Sheriff
Osun State Amotekun Corps has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of one of its officers, Ogundiran Sheriff, who reportedly died while on duty at the Ila-Orangun area of the state.
The deceased, who served as Provost of the B Division at the Ila-Orangun Command, was said to have collapsed unexpectedly and was later confirmed dead.
His passing has left a profound void within the Corps and the broader security community in Osun State.
In a statement issued by the Corps Commander, Chief. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, and made available to journalists in Osogbo by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yusuf Idowu Abass, the Corps extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, colleagues, friends, and the entire Ila-Orangun community.
Omoyele described the departed Sheriff as a disciplined, loyal, and tireless officer who played a vital role in the success of the Corps’ operations in the area.
“Ogundiran Sheriff was more than just an operative; he was a pillar of our operational command structure and a proud son of Osun who served with unwavering dedication to the security of our people.
“His sudden death is not only shocking but a painful and irreplaceable loss to the Amotekun Corps, his family, and the community he served with courage and honor.” he said.
He praised the officer’s professionalism, bravery, and unwavering commitment to duty, noting that Sheriff made significant contributions toward maintaining peace and security in Ila-Orangun and its environs.
“His legacy will forever be etched in the history of the Osun Amotekun Corps,” he added.
Omoyele reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to honoring the memory of fallen officers by upholding the values they stood for. He also assured that appropriate support would be provided to the bereaved family during this period of mourning.
