Amotekun Arrests Suspected Armed Robber in Osun

The Amotekun Corps in Osun State has arrested. a 25-year-old man, over alleged involvement in an armed robbery operation in Ororuwo community, Boripe Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, said to be an indigene of Osogbo but resident in Lagos, was apprehended following a swift response by operatives of the Boripe Command.

The arrest came after vigilant residents raised an alarm, alerting security authorities to the presence and activities of suspected armed robbers in the area.

Acting on the distress call, Amotekun personnel immediately mobilized to the scene and successfully captured Raifu. However, other members of the gang reportedly escaped and are currently at large, with efforts ongoing to track them down.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly confessed to participating in the crime, describing it as his first involvement in robbery.

He reportedly disclosed that an associate identified simply as “Small,” who is still on the run, lured him into the act and facilitated his movement from Lagos to Ororuwo for the operation.

Raifu was also said to have expressed remorse, urging youths to avoid criminal influences that could ruin their future.

Items recovered from the suspect include a locally made short Dane gun, a stick, and a face mask.

Confirming the development, the Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, commended residents of Ororuwo for their vigilance and timely information, which played a crucial role in the success of the operation.

He stressed that community collaboration remains essential in tackling insecurity.

The Commander further praised the оперативness and professionalism of the officers involved, reiterating the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He assured that efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

He added that upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspect will be charged to court in accordance with the law.

Residents of the state have been urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information to curb criminal activities.
