To save Tobi Amusan from the trauma of her suspension by the Athletes Integrity Unit (AIU) before she was eventually cleared to participate in the ongoing World Championships, the United States has dispatched a top sports psychologist to Team Nigeria’s camp in Budapest.
Though, Amusan, the World Athletics Record holder in 100m hurdles, said on Monday that she has put behind her the trauma of her suspension by the AIU over the Whereabouts Failures charge, it was gathered on Tuesday morning that a top American sports psychologist has arrived to give her the backing she needs to conquer here in Budapest.
A team official was overheard saying that the American psychologist arrived in Budapest in the early morning of Tuesday for Amusan.
Amusan began training for the title defence on Monday morning at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.
Amusan was cleared by a panel set up by World Athletics to review the AIU suspension last Thursday.
Amusan was drawn to run from lane four, just outside Olympics bronze medal winner, Megan Tapper of Jamaica, in the fifth and final heat of the first round.
The Commonwealth and Diamond League champion is seeking to be one of the four automatic qualifiers for the semifinals. Anusan will be looking to successfully defend her title to complete a successful defence of all five titles she has won.
