An ex-envoy and a former Senatorial Aspirant under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State, Ambassador Sola Iji, has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the Presidential Candidate of the party at its just concluded Party National Convention in Abuja.
In a statement by his spokesman, Onibudo ‘Wole Iroaye, in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday, Iji said that “the resounding and overwhelming victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the just concluded National Convention of our Great Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC., was most deserving by all parameters.”
According to the statement: Iji said that ‘not only is this so, the victory signals the opening of a new and more remarkable chapter in the history of our Dear Nation, Nigeria.’
The statement said: “When one considers the enormous sacrifices that this unique Builder and Leader of People and Economy has made to entrench the prevailing democratic dispensation and support its administration to ensure a Nigeria where all the citizens and residents, irrespective of religious, ethnic, social or whatever backgrounds, feel happy, safe and secure in any part of our Country, one will see that our Great Party, the APC., could never have a better Presidential Candidate at this crucial time.
“Indeed, Nigeria our Dear Nation, could not have a better Personality who is eminently qualified to take over as President post 2023, when a deep commitment to true nation building, unusual maturity, honesty, dedication, statesmanship, selflessness and indiscriminate personal sacrifices are highly needed in the man to whom all our diverse Peoples comprising over 250 ethnic groups across the states, will look up to full of hopes.
“Asiwaju, it will be racalled, demonstrated unusual selflessness, courage and leadership by putting his life on the line, sacrificing his comfort, freedom and all he had; and committing himself wholly to the protracted bloody pro democracy struggle, which eventually birthed the current democratic dispensation which all Nigerians are today enjoying.
“Notably, he even went on self-exile, where, unrelenting, he continued providing a deeply committed leadership to the heroic struggle for a Democratic Nigeria.
“Thanks to the selfless sacrifices which Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others like him made, even at the risk of losing their lives as well as everything they had, while in the trenches, Nigeria, our Dear Fatherland, is today a free and democratic space, within which all of us can pursue our dreams and develop our innate talents to the best of our abilities and in the overall interest of the Country and entire Humanity.
“As he did in a most exemplary and wonderful manner, to transform the socio-economic landscape of Lagos State into Nigeria’s richest and most prosperous State, when he served as the Governor, so will he transform Nigeria to Africa’s Best Economy and most formidable Regional Power and Voice among the comity of Nations.
