All members of society have crucial roles to play in reducing road accidents.

Osun State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adekunle Omoyele, declared this as he led a rescue operation at the scene of a fatal motor accident along the Ife-Ondo-Ore highway on Saturday morning.

He and his team were en route to Oke-Igbo in Ondo State when they encountered the tragic incident—a collision involving a trailer and a coaster bus.

The accident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, resulted in at least one confirmed fatality and left several passengers with varying degrees of injuries.

Upon witnessing the crash, the Amotekun team immediately abandoned their journey and launched a rescue operation. With urgency and compassion, Commander Omoyele mobilized his operatives, deployed his patrol van, and ensured the injured victims were promptly transported to the State Hospital in Ondo for medical attention.

The timely response from the Amotekun Corps was instrumental in stabilizing several of the victims and preventing further deterioration of their conditions due to delayed medical care.

Speaking at the scene, Commander Omoyele stated: “This is beyond security—it’s about humanity. Our mission is to protect and serve, and that includes responding swiftly to emergencies where lives are at stake.”

He reiterated that the mandate of the Osun Amotekun Corps goes beyond routine security patrols, highlighting the agency’s broader commitment to public safety, emergency response, and humanitarian service.

Commander Omoyele also advised motorists to exercise caution on the roads, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and report emergencies promptly to relevant authorities.

“We all have a role to play in reducing road accidents. Simple obedience to traffic laws can save lives,” he emphasized.
