Akure State Specialist Hospital to be re-built

The State Specialist Hospital in Akure, the Ondo State capital would be rebuilt into a befitting complex that would serve the purpose of the hospital.

With effect from next month, old buildings within the hospital would be demolished, to give way for new ones, according to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

He made this disclosure during his appreciation tour to Akure South Local Government, stating that the move becomes imperative because Akure as a state capital, deserves a befitting hospital edifice.

Also, Akeredolu described the step as part of his administration’s commitment to ensure that effective healthcare service delivery is given to people of the state.

He thanked the people of Akure South Local Government Area for their massive support for candidates of the party during the just concluded House of Assembly election.

He said: “Our main purpose of coming is to thank you for voting our candidates representing Akure South 1 and 2 constituencies at the House of Assembly in person of Hon. Sunday Olajide (1) and Hon. Toluwani Borokini.

“On their behalf, our party has come to show appreciation for your support and loyalty, and we can assure you that they will be of good representation.”

He was however unhappy that voters in the Ondo Central Senatorial District District including the local government, did not re-elect Senator Tayo Alasoadura.

He said: “He was a good representation of Akure, and he did very well, but we abandoned him when he needed us most. I thank him for his good works.”

He said in the last two years, his administration has been able to achieve more in the area of infrastructural development in Akure South local government.

According to him: “We have constructed various kilometres of roads including that of the State Hospital and Alagbaka road network, while latest among them is the ongoing, the A Division to Ijoka road dualisation project.

“First phase of the road project which begins from A Division to NEPA Roundabout is almost ready and would be be commissioned. Work will commence on the second phase immediately.”

Apart from road construction, he said his administration has also renovated numerous primary schools with modern toilet facilities and perimeter fencing for security purposes, while new blocks of classrooms arere being constructed where necessary.

Earlier, Caretaker Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Gbenga Olaniyi lauded the Governor for his a achievements which he said, cut across all spheres of life, especially in the area of provision of social amenities and road construction.

He particularly commended the Akeredolu-led administration for its intervention in the education sector through the construction of classrooms, and renovation of existing ones through which over thirty-one schools have benefitted from and supply of furniture and learning aids.

In his speech, Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi commended the Governor for his various achievements across the state, despite challenges.

He particularly thanked the Governor for his giant strides in the area of road constriction which he said is of international standards that would stand the test of time.

He however appealed to the Governor to appoint more Akure indigenes as Permanent Secretaries.

Also speaking, Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede described Akeredolu as a silent achiever whose monumental achievements across the state will continue to speak for him.

He said: “Mr Governor, of a truth, you have done so much that would earn you an automatic ticket for a second term in office, not only in Akure South Local Government, but across the state. These are projects that eyes can see everywhere.

“We are indeed very happy about these schools wearing beautiful looks across the state too. They are renovated with with modern toilets in place as well as fence for the security of the pupils; but I want to appeal that more teachers including Islamic teachers be employed into these schools to complement your efforts.”
