An Akure Chief Magistrate Court on Tuesday remanded the suspected killer of a Ghanaian at Owo Correctional Centre.
The suspect, Wale Hassan, who claimed that he used cutlass and hand file to stab the deceased whose name and age are yet unknown to the prosecutor.
He was accused according to the charge sheet: “That you Wale Hassan, male on the 19th day of August 2020 at about 9:am, at Ifedore west reserve, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did kill one Ghanaian national, name and age yet unknown by stabbing him to death with a cutlass, and hand file and there by committed an offense contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code cap 37 volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.”
The defense counsel, C. O Falana, prayed the court to give him more chance to study the case file and also pleaded for a short adjournment for his client.
The Magistrate adjourned the case to 6th November and ordered the suspect remanded at Owo Correctional Centre, while the case file should be transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
