Akoko North East/ Akoko North West Bye-Election: Olalekan Bada picks PDP ticket

A former Chairman of Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo state, Mr. Olalekan Bada, has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the forthcoming Akoko North East/Akoko North West federal constituency bye-election scheduled for next month.

A statement on Monday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, said that Bada came top at the primary conducted at the Jobi Fele Civic Centre, Ikare-Akoko.

He said that Bada polled 36 votes while his closest rival Daniel Omolola polled 20 votes.

According to Peretei, the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Hon ‘Kunmi Adesina declared Bada “as duly returned as the Candidate of the Party at the February 3, 2024 election.”

The seat of the federal constituency became vacant following the resignation of the former elected representative of the constituency, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was appointed as the Minister for Interior by President Bola Tinubu.
