The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has described the national honour bestowed on the state’s Governor Oluwatotimi Akereledolu by the President Muhammadu Buhari as well deserved.
Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has proved without any doubt to be governor with immense capacity to deliver dividends of democracy to the people who elected him.
In a statement by its Director, Media & Publicity, Mr Steve Otaloro, the party said that the governor “has been able to touch all sectors of the state and develop the infrastructure of the Sunshine State to enviable heights.”
The statement said: “As a political party, we are happy to have been able to support him as partner in progress in the provision of democratic dividends to the people of Ondo State and we gladly share in the conferment with the National Honours of the Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON.
“Though the Governor said he never expected the award but that nevertheless, it meant a lot to him.
“Some of us believe his modesty would not allow him to admit to some of his uncommon leadership qualities as Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and that of the Southwest Governors’ Forum that have given the state and indeed the region a place of pride in terms of securing the life and property of our people against banditry and terrorism that have plagued the region hitherto.
“We thank President Muhammadu Buhari for deeming it fit to honour Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as we wish him more years of service to the good people of Ondo State.
“To whom much is given, much is expected in return. This honour will definitely galvanize Governor Akeredolu to redouble his effort and his good work in service to the people of Ondo State.
“On behalf of the state working committee of the party under the leadership of the state chairman, Engr Ade Adetimehin, we congratulate Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on this well-deserved National Honours of the Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON.”
