Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has tested negative to COVID-19.

He has been on self isolation since Monday last week when he announced at a press briefing that he had tested asymptomatic positive to the dreaded virus.

Simultaneous with the cheery news, the governor appointed Mr Temitayo Oluwatuyi as the new Secretary to the State Government, SSG. He replaces Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, who quit on Monday morning to commit himself to another aspirant on the same platform of the same ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Segun Abraham.

Akeredolu said via his verified Twitter handle that the appointment is with immediate effect.

He wrote: “Today, I announced the appointment of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi “Tukana” as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to resume immediately following the resignation of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde.”

About nine aspirants, together with Akeredolu, are struggling for the APC flag in the governorship primary of the party, barely two weeks away,, to fly in the October 20 election

He also nominated Mr Idowu Otetubi to replace Oluwatuyi as Commissioner for Natural Resources. Both are from Akure South Local Government, same as Abegunde who resigned.

The new SSG, Tayo Oluwatuyi was a Commissioner in the immediate past Olusegun Mimiko administration. He was appointed by Akeredolu as commissioner last year following a minor cabinet reshuffle.

Otetubi, a chartered accountant, was the chairman of the Unity Forum faction of the APC. He recently withdrew his case against the State Executive committee of the party.
