Akeredolu sworn in for second term

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, was on Wednesday sworn in for his second term of office.

The Governor who took his oath of office at about 10:48am, was sworn in together with the Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at about 10.48 am.

The event was at the International Culture and Event Center, Igbatoro Road, Akure, which was attended by only 500 people in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

Among them were four governors including Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti; Dapo Abiodun, Ogun; and Gboyega Oyetola, Osun.

Former Governor and APC chieftain, Chief Bisi Akande was also at the event.

Akeredolu had defeated the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Mr Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP in last year’s governorship poll to win a second term in office.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Olanrewaju Akeredolu, administered the oath of office.

Akeredolu was re-elected governor of the state on October 10, 2020, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.He defeated the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, and the his then Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, who contested on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party.
