Akeredolu nominates ex deputy speaker, former perm sec, five others into cabinet

A former Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Fatai Olotu; an ex Commissioner in the immediate past Olusegun Mimiko administration, Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju; a former Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service, Mrs Titilayo Adeyemi; and a former Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Mr Temitayo Oluwatuyi Tukana were among the five Commissioner-nominees announced on Monday by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

The other Commissioner-nominee is Akindotun Olubunmi Owanikin Esq.

Also announced as Special Adviser-nominees are a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Babatunde Kolawole and an ex Deputy Majority Leader and former Information Committee Chairman of the State House of Assembly, Hon Oyebo Aladetan.

They would join the Commissioner-nominees as members of the State Executive Council if they are confirmed by the State House of Assembly.

The Governor announced names of the seven proposed State Executive Council members, after sacking three commissioners, as he moved to rejig his cabinet for optimum performance by his administration.

These were contained a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Segun Ajiboye, which directed the sacked commissioners to handover all government’s property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries.

According to the statement, the Governor announced the decisions after Monday’s meeting of the State Executive Council meeting at the Exco Chamber of his Office, in Akure.

The sacked commissioners include those of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni; Works and Infrastructure, Rt. Hon Taofiq Abdusalam; and Culture, Alhaji Ismaila Olurimisi.

The statement said the Governor thanked the sacked commissioners for their service to the people of Ondo State, and wished them well in their future endeavours. On the other hand, he reportedly wished the seven new appointees well in their offices.

It added that Akeredolu promised that the people would “continue to be at the centre of the policies of his administration, while he continues to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people of the state.”
