Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will soon return from his medical leave abroad, the state government has declared.
Speaking through the commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the government reported that the governor is improving, getting well and will soon return to continue his duty as governor.
She said that the governor held a Zoom meeting with members of the state’s Executive Council last week during which they confirmed that he is fast recuperating.
The commissioner said during an interview in Akure on Tuesday that: “Even though Mr Governor hasn’t told me to say this, he told me personally a few days ago that he is grateful to every one of us.
“About five days ago, the governor was on Zoom with us, the executive members, to discuss things that have to do with the state.
“So, I am bold to say Mr Governor is recovering very fast but since I am not a doctor, I can’t say when he’s coming back but having seen him, heard him, and the remarkable improvement that I’ve seen, I know that Mr Governor will soon be here.”
In line with the constitutional guideline, the governor had early in June written to the State House of Assembly that he was proceeding on medical leave abroad, while he handed over power to his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to function as acting Governor.
