Akeredolu holds the media dearly – Ojogo

Facts and records have  shown that no government or public office holders who are  unfriendly to media professionals could achieve their  desired results.

This is the position of Ondo state government as stated by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo, who acknowledges the immense roles of the media in the quest of any government to succeed in delivering its policies and programmes.

He amplified this position in Akure, the state capital, while playing host to the State executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) who paid him an official familiarisation visit.

Noting that as a core professional journalist and an NUJ member of many years’ standing, he holds the union in high esteem, while requesting for the support of the NUJ leadership at the state and various chapels levels to enable him succeed.

Ojogo said that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, would not joke with any effort that could uplift the practice of journalism profession in the state.

He promised that his ministry would consider various requests of the NUJ including training and retraining of information/press officers as well as revamping facilities at the Union’s Press centre, Akure

Earlier, the State NUJ Chairman, Mr Adetona Aderoboye had expressed appreciation to governor Akeredolu for considering a core journalist like Ojogo as Information Commissioner.

He urged the Commissioner to give priority to programmes that would uplift the welfare of journalists in the state.
