Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Thursday said the achievements already recorded by Governor Gboyega Oyetola in Osun State were unbeatable.

He commended his Osun counterpart for making the interest of the people the primary consideration of his administration; even as he noted that his colleague has proven his commitment to his people by judiciously utilising the limited resources available to the state.

Akeredolu spoke in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, during the commissioning of the iconic Flyover at Olaiya Intersection.

The flyover, which was built by Oyetola, was commissioned by Akeredolu on the former’s invitation.

He was accompanied by some members of the State Executive Council led by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu.

While describing him as a reliable ally and performer, he said Oyetola has served well and made sacrifices for the people of Osun; commending him for insisting on discharging the mandate given to him by the people of Osun state.

Also, he commended Oyetola’s tenacity in ensuring that rectitude remains the guiding principle of governance in the State under his watch.

He said his colleaague has discharged the trust reposed in him creditably, noting that posterity will remember him for the significant strides taken in governance amidst the myriad of challenges confronting the State.

Akeredolu said: “I recognise the crucial role which infrastructural development plays in the affairs of a society. It is given that living in an environment will be stress free if the necessary socio-economic amenities are emplaced.

“The improvement on the quality of infrastructure in a society affects, positively, the living conditions of the people. They are the direct beneficiaries of projects such as this very important one we are commissioning today.”

Earlier at the Government House where he was received by Oyetola, his deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi, and other members of the state executive council, Akeredolu said his Osun counterpart has done his best.

His words: “You have proven that with the limited resources, you cared so much about your people. Anybody can say anything, but for us who are close to Osun State, we know you have done wonderfully well.

“I can beat my chest and say that nobody can beat your record. As you are struggling to get this mandate back, the record you have put down is there. We know the number of roads you have done. We know the Health Centers you have worked on. Congratulate yourself, you have done well.”

He said: “Inviting me to commission this project, I do not see it as an entitlement but a rare honour. I am very grateful.”

Responding, Oyetola thanked his Ondo counterpart for the love he always shows him and his administration; describing him as the commander of the Southwest Governors who has earned the forum’s respect.

He said: “I’m most grateful for the love you have always shown me. The love has always been demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt. What is important for us is to serve, whether it is appreciated or not.”
