Akeredolu at Ekimogun Day, vows to complete Mimiko’s good projects

Continuity of well-intended projects has been described by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN as credible asset to sustainable development.

In his speech at the Ekimogun Day Festival 2019 held at the Oba Adesanoye Civic Center, in Ondo City,  explained that there was no way he could have abandoned purposeful projects inherited by his administration from the immediate past government.

Doing so, according to him would be tantamount to putting the state at a loss and disadvantage in view of the fact that state resources committed to such projects shall have come to waste.

“For me governance is about continuity which I do not believe should be sacrificed on the altar of political differences.

“My friend, the immediate past Governor, Rahman Mimiko did his own and left; we will do our best and bow out. I must assure that as long as we here, good governance will the sign post of our interventions”, he said.

Akeredolu used the occasion to state that two new general hospitals would soon be constructed in Akure, the state capital and Ondo City to replace the old ones that were amalgamated to form a Multi Complex Teaching Hospitals in both towns for the University of Medical Sciences.

He said the proposed General Hospitals have become desirable to service the Teaching Hospital which is a tertiary health institution with a referral status.

The governor also appreciated the role of the Osemawe, Oba Victor Kiladejo for entrenching peace in the kingdom.

According to him, his initiative of getting the youths to renounce their memberships of different cult groups has brought peace into the kingdom and the state at large.

”Kabiyesi, we appreciate you for bringing young cultists in your domain to renounce cultism. We have seen the benefits of the salutary efforts such that other royal fathers have done same .

“I also thank you for using your foundation to train a few of them. The Deji of Akure has done it and Owo has followed suit a few weeks ago”, he said.

On opening up the state, Arakunrin Akeredolu disclosed that his administration would soon embark on the construction of rural roads to link market centres across the state through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP, of the World Bank.

He said the initiative is part of the determination of his administration to give more attention to rural development by connecting rural communities to urban centres with the link roads thereby easing the movement of farm produce and people from one location to another.

Earlier in his address, the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Dr Victor Kiladejo, expressed satisfaction with the performance of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu across the state in all sectors.

He described the governor as a man with a touch of quality who has remained faithful to all his promises to the people of the state.

The monarch appealed to the governor to help construct a befitting general hospital in Ondo town.

The event which was filled with grand colour and a robust display of the rich culture was graced by dignitaries including the former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun; some members of the State House of Assembly and members of the State Executive Council.
