Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo SAN, has commended the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, GCON, over the National Judicial Council (NJC)’s decision to invite public input on judicial appointments to Superior Courts of Record.
To him, the decision is “remarkable” and “progressive”.
He praised the CJN, who is also the NJC Chairman, for advancing transparency and accountability in the judicial appointment process.
His words, “This significant step demonstrates a bold commitment to public engagement.
“By encouraging comments on the integrity, reputation, and competence of judicial nominees, the NJC is establishing a system that prioritizes accountability and fosters community involvement, while ensuring a selection process that is both rigorous and reflective of the highest values of our legal system”.
Ajulo noted that such measures will undoubtedly strengthen public trust in the judiciary and ensure the elevation of only individuals with proven integrity to the bench.
According to him, “This initiative signals refreshing leadership and a renewed commitment to excellence within our judiciary”.
He urged Nigerians to actively participate in the process.
He reaffirmed his support for the CJN’s efforts and urged the public to use this opportunity responsibly to contribute to a fair, credible, and trusted judicial system.
