Aiyedatiwa seeks stronger Public-Private Partnership for effective development

Ondo State

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has emphasised the need for sustained collaboration between the government and private investors to drive effective development across the state.

He spoke while delivering his remarks at the commissioning of Kembod Event Centre in Akure, recently.

The governor described the edifice as a catalyst for economic vitality, social engagement, and increased global visibility, not only for the state but also for the region at large.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, he noted that the commissioning stands not just as the opening of a building, but as a symbol of collective ambition where public support and private initiative come together to shape a more prosperous future.

While underscoring the growing importance of private sector investment in regional development, he emphasised unity, transparency and long-term vision as key drivers for success.

Aiyedatiwa, while commending the celebrant, Mrs Oluwakemisola Koku, and her husband, Otunba Adeyinka Koku, for their commitment to progress, described the gathering as a convergence of shared aspirations, particularly among diaspora communities returning with renewed hope and investment interest.

While unveiling the modern event facility, which has been designed to host large-scale gatherings with a capacity of approximately 1,200 guests, he highlighted that the success of the centre would depend not only on its infrastructure, but also on integrity in management.

He stressed the importance of transparency, warning against financial mismanagement and urging operators to uphold honesty in all transactions.

According to the governor, businesses built on accountability tend to attract sustained growth and community trust, noting that the project is a strategic response to the rising demand for event venues in Akure, a city he described as experiencing rapid urban and economic expansion.

“With its high standards and modern facilities, the centre is set to attract visitors globally, including from the United Kingdom and the United States.

“Beyond its commercial appeal, the event centre is expected to create jobs for youths and boost economic activity,” he said

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to foster a conducive environment for investments in the state and pointed to ongoing efforts in infrastructure development, security and policy support as critical enablers for private enterprise.

“This is not the responsibility of government alone. When private investors step forward, they complement public efforts and accelerate visible progress in our communities,” he said.

He called on other investors to invest in the state, referencing a recent investment summit, and expressed optimism that the region’s peaceful atmosphere and growth potential would continue to attract both domestic and international business interests.

Speaking earlier, the proprietress of the centre, Oluwakemisola Koku, described the gesture as a way of giving back to society and remaining relevant in the community.

The Chairman of the occasion and Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, commended the celebrant for establishing the edifice in the state capital, which he described as a peaceful town.

He specifically commended the governor for prioritising security in the state, noting that Amotekun is on ground.
