Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commended the senator representing Imo West senatorial district in the national assembly, Osita Izunaso, for his benevolence to persons with disabilities through the Kpakpando foundation, a non-profit organization he founded 20 years ago.

In his speech at the 20th anniversary celebration of the foundation in Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Thursday, the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, described Senator Izunaso’s gesture as a noble one.

His words, “Twenty years of consistent service to humanity is no small feat. It speaks of commitment, perseverance, and a deep sense of purpose, which is a clear reminder that the true measure of greatness lies not in titles or positions, but in the ability to uplift the vulnerable and give voice to the voiceless.

“My dear brother, Distinguished Senator Izunaso, let me heartily congratulate you for choosing this noble path. Your life and work through the Kpakpando Foundation represent empathy, leadership, and purposeful service at their finest.

“You have given hope where there was despair, created opportunities where there were obstacles, and restored dignity to countless persons living with disabilities”

The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for emplacing inclusive policies, targeted at the vulnerable groups in the society.

He called on all stakeholders to pay special attention to persons with disabilities in Nigeria in terms of inclusive representation.

He said, “But beyond government, today’s celebration reminds us that nation-building is a collective duty. The private sector, faith-based organizations, and individuals, all have vital roles to play.

“Compassion must never be the responsibility of government alone, it is a shared moral obligation.”

Keynote speaker at the occasion, Jake Epelle, stressed the importance of inclusion in achieving an egalitarian society, commending the foundation for creating a pathway towards a better future for persons with disabilities.

In his message, founder of Kpakpando Foundation, Senator Osita Izunaso restated his commitment to supporting the vulnerable groups in the society.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of two buses to winners of the raffle draw and the distribution of hundreds of empowerment items to persons with disabilities.
