Aiyedatiwa flouts no laws over cabinet, APC fires back at PDP

Ondo State

says allegations against governor baseless, attempt to undermine his progress

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has fired back at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP ,saying the allegations against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa are unfounded and baseless.

In a statement by Steve Otaloro, its State Director, Media & Publicity, the APC described the allegations as an attempt to undermine the governor’s achievements in his first 100 days in office.

It said, “we stand firmly behind Governor Aiyedatiwa and his administration. We will not be distracted by the baseless claims of the PDP. Instead, we will continue to partner with the government as it works to build a prosperous and inclusive Ondo State for all citizens.”

The APC’s full statement follows: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State categorically rejects the baseless allegations made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the governance of our state under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The claims presented by the PDP are not only unfounded but also reflect a desperate attempt to undermine the progress the administration have made in just 100 days of governance.

Firstly, it is important to clarify that Governor Aiyedatiwa has fulfilled the constitutional provision regarding the appointment of members of his cabinet upon assuming office. He has already appointed key cabinet members who are currently engaged in the critical work of governance.

The Governor is in the process of appointing additional members to other portfolios, a task that requires careful consideration and due diligence to ensure that the best candidates are chosen to serve the interests of the people of Ondo State.

This thoughtful approach reflects the Governor’s commitment to building a capable and effective team that represents the diverse interests of all local governments.

The PDP’s claim of a lack of transparency is a projection of their own failings during their time in office. The Aiyedatiwa administration is committed to transparency and accountability.

The Governor has prioritized engaging with stakeholders and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard. This administration is focused on building a government that is inclusive and representative of the will of the people.

Regarding the contracts mentioned by the PDP, we firmly reject their characterization as “vexatious” and “grossly misplaced.”

The contracts for the construction of residential buildings and the enhancement of Chief Reuben Fasoranti Park are part of a strategic plan to improve infrastructure and public spaces in Ondo State. These projects are designed to create jobs, stimulate the economy, and enhance the quality of life for our citizens.

The figures cited by the PDP are exaggerated and taken out of context, and we invite the public to consider the long-term benefits these projects will bring to our state.

Furthermore, the assertion that the Governor is misappropriating public funds is not only false but also slanderous.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has a proven track record of fiscal responsibility and has inherited a complex financial landscape. The administration is actively working to improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and ensure that funds from the Federation account are utilized effectively for the development of Ondo State.

The PDP’s claims of secrecy regarding financial matters are unfounded; the Governor has been transparent about the challenges and strategies in place to enhance our revenue streams.

We urge the PDP to focus on constructive criticism rather than unfounded allegations. The people of Ondo State deserve better than the politics of division and misinformation. The APC is committed to delivering on our promises and ensuring that the state thrives under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

In conclusion, we stand firmly behind Governor Aiyedatiwa and his administration. We will not be distracted by the baseless claims of the PDP. Instead, we will continue to partner with the government as it work to build a prosperous and inclusive Ondo State for all citizens.”
