African countries record 790,069 COVID-19 cases, 16,723 deaths

The 55 member states of African Union have recorded 790,069 COVID-19 cases, 16,723 deaths and 447,874 recoveries.

This is according to a report by APO Group as at 6 pm on Friday July 24, which was entitled “Coronavirus: African Union Member States (55) reporting COVID-19 cases as of 24 July 6 pm EAT.”

The report which was distributed by APO Group on behalf of Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Africa CDC, was also subtitled “African Union Member States (55) reporting COVID-19 cases (790,069), deaths (16,723), and recoveries (447,874) by region”

It shows that the Southern Region has the highest numbers with 424,591 cases, 6,425 deaths and 241,922 recoveries while the Central Region has the least with 44,220 cases, 871 deaths and 27,801 recoveries.

Following is the breakdown of the recorded figures of cases, deaths and recoveries by regions:

Central (44,220 cases; 871 deaths; 27,801 recoveries):
