recommends expulsion for alleged gross indiscipline
The pan-Yoruba socio political organisation, Afenifere has suspended Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Alaago of Kajola Ijesa in Atakumosa Local Government Area, over what it described as gross indiscipline and disloyalty to the group’s leadership.
Osun State chapter of the group, which took the decision, also recommended the monarch’s immediate expulsion and excommunication from Afenifere.
It conveyed the decisions in a communiqué issued after its enhanced general meeting, held at the residence of Hon. Barrister Lanre Omisore in Ile-Ife.
In it, the group accused the traditional ruler of unauthorized and self-imposed assumption of leadership within the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, which it said contravenes Afenifere’s protocols, tradition, and norms.
The communiqué, signed by Hon. Lanre Omisore, State Leader and National Financial Secretary of Afenifere, and Adeyinka Akala, the State Publicity Secretary, reaffirmed Osun Afenifere’s allegiance to the national leadership of Pa Reuben Fasoranti and expressed full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
It strongly condemned a recent statement attributed to Oba Olaitan in which he allegedly called for the impeachment of President Tinubu over the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
The group described the statement as “reckless, un-Yoruba-like, and unbecoming of a traditional ruler.”
It said, “For these and other reasons, Osun Afenifere has unanimously resolved to recommend the immediate expulsion and excommunication of Oba Oladipo Olaitan from the Afenifere fold.
“His actions not only undermine the unity of our group but also constitute a direct affront to the values we uphold”.
The group also appealed to the national leadership of Afenifere to intervene in the ongoing local government leadership crisis in Osun State and urged security agencies to remain vigilant in protecting citizens’ lives and property.
The group called on President Tinubu to extend the gains of his administration to Osun State, emphasizing the need for both infrastructure development and human capital investment.
