Mr Olumuyiwa Adu has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the scheduled bye-election to fill the vacant seat of the Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency in Ondo State in the House of Representatives.
The vacancy followed the passage of the PDP chieftain, the late Hon Adedayo Omolafe, popularly called Expensive, who died in August last year.
In the party’s primary which held at Amazing Event Hall Oda road, Akure on Thursday, Adu polled 98 votes to beat four other aspirants who contested the exercise with him.
When the votes of delegates were sorted and counted, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Amos Fawole announced the final results, with Adu winning with Adu carrying the day.
His closest rival, Kemisola Adesanya, the only female aspirant polled 70 votes.
Speaking with reporters after the exercise, Fawole said that the whole process was free and orderly. He expressed appreciation to the delegates, hoping that the PDP would win the bye-election.
The party through its spokesman in the state, Mr Ikantu Kennedy Peretei, confirmed the results and affirmed Adu’s victory.

Adu – 98; Kemisola – 70; Faro 40; Awude – 16; and Alarapon – 8.
Peretei said: “Adu wins.”
