In what can be best described as a pay-back to the society, the Alumni students of Adeyemi College of Education Demonstration Secondary School, Ondo, 1998 Set has displayed a large humanitarian heart as it individually gave over 50 indigent elders in Ondo community substantial sums of money to keep them alive and wipe tears off their faces.
The spokesman of the association, Mr. Bisi Agboola disclosed this in a statement.
The event came up at the school compound with some teachers of the school ln attendance.
The Vice President (Diaspora) of the Alumni, Mr. Agboade Makinwa attributed the overall success of their life careers to the training and knowledge acquired from the school.
He recognized the good foundation laid by the school as pivotal to their advancement ln life.
He also commended the pioneer principal, Chief John Akindutire whom he described as a good father with discipline attributes. Chief Akindutire who sent his goodwill message expressed happiness to see his students doing well ln life. An octogenarian and Community leader, he was also happy that the students have the giving heart to remember giving back to the society that made them. He urged parents not to take the issues concerning their children with levity.
The Vice Principal of the school, Mr. Oluwafemi Ayerin who stood ln for the principal, Mrs. Aregbesola said the school is waxing stronger ln academics and moral value.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Dorcas 0lufunke Awolola said that due to what the alumni body had done especially at a period when the economy is nose-down, prayers wil continue to touch them ln every sphere of their lives.
She reiterated the need for parents not to joke with the upbringing of their wards .
The National President of the Alumni, Mr. Olutope Fagbemi had earlier ln his message delivered by the treasurer, Pastor Ojopagogo reflected on the strong love existing among the 1998 set which made the coming together possible
He recalled how they were taught in school to be their brothers keeper and not to forsake one another.
The president described such teaching as a tonic which has kept them as one indivisible body.
He recalled how the body has provided laptop/computers and other materials for use of the school.
The president thanked his colleagues for always rising to the needs of people all the time
He was optimistic that the body will continue to do more to lift the name if their alma mata and Ondo as a community
The 1998 alumni was full of praise to the Federal Government for elevating the school to University.
