To address the unusual demand during Yuletide, which is synonymous with high vehicular traffic on the roads, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government of Ondo State, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya has started rehabilitation of failed portions across major roads in the local government area.
This was contained in a statement by the Chairman’s Press Secretary, Mr Martins Fasusi.
Adesanya had recently launched “Operation Zero-Pothole” across the local government; but the programme could not take off due to prolonged season of unabated rainfalls.
The statement said that the first phase of the exercise had started and would cover Okitipupa – Ikoya – Ilutitun – Igbotako – Akinfosile road, while the second phase would cover Okitipupa – Ode Aye – Ore road until all major roads within the council area are touched.
It said: “This is to ease movement of travelers as many sons and daughters of the LG both at home and in the diaspora would be using the roads during the Yuletide.
We want to ensure that motorists and commuters travel with minimal discomfort. We believe this will minimise cases of road crashes on our roads during the forthcoming season.”
It therefore appealed to motorists to drive with caution by observing all traffic rules or signs especially speed limit.
