Osun Democrats for Democracy has debunked the rumour that Governor Ademola Adeleke plans to dump his party for the opposition All Progressives Congress.
Also, the group condemned attempts to slander President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Adeleke, describing those involved as “anonymous megaphones for failed politicians” who lack credibility and integrity.
It described the rumour as laughable and baseless in a statement by its chairman, Alhaji Abdulmaruf Odunlade.
In fact it labeled the rumour as a recycled lie, the handiwork of elements within the fractured Osun APC, who once ruled the state with “impunity, mismanagement, and economic hardship.”
The group stressed that Adeleke remains steadfastly loyal to the PDP, “the platform through which he has delivered significant development and democratic dividends to the people of Osun.”
According to the statement, “Our attention has been drawn to a baseless and laughable rumour being circulated by a faceless and shallow-minded group styling itself as the ‘Osun Voters Assembly’.
“As the Osun Democrats for Democracy, we find it necessary to respond decisively to this reckless disinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of the people’s governor”.
It stressed that Governor Adeleke “is not, will not, and shall never consider joining the APC nor seek its ticket for any election — whether in Osun or anywhere else.”
Reiterating Adeleke’s unflinching loyalty to his party the PDP, the group said, “Any suggestion to the contrary is the product of desperate hallucinations by political charlatans, rumour peddlers, and disgruntled elements clearly rattled by the Governor’s rising popularity and sterling performance in office” .
The group said that Adeleke is restoring good governance, revamping infrastructure, prioritising workers’ welfare, and promoting youth inclusion — all under the PDP — and questioned why such a leader would abandon a party that is driving Osun’s recovery.
Ofunlade said, “To suggest otherwise is not only absurd but insulting to the intelligence of Osun people.
“We urge the public to disregard this baseless propaganda and continue supporting the Adeleke-led PDP government — an administration deeply committed to accountability, inclusion, and sustainable development”.
