Adeleke sues for peace over Oyo/Osun land disputes

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has harped on the importance of embracing peace over any land dispute especially between neighboring sister states pending an amicable resolution of the contention.

Apparently making a reference to the people of Ogburo, Papa, Ogun Ajo, Paku, Ejemu, Eleye, Olola and other communities in Iwo Local Government where some people are on a daily basis attempting to alter the already established facts on the Oyo/Osun boundary, he berated the development in strong terms.

He disclosed his position while receiving officials of the National Boundary Commission,( NBC) Abuja, led by Mr Oluwafemi Oshinnaike.

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, appreciated the visit as timely and commendable.

He told the officials of the Commission that his administration is not leaving any stone unturned in addressing the development as all necessary arrangements, are on a daily basis, being put in place to checkmate what could have led to lawlessness leading to the break down of law and order.

The officials of the National Boundary Commission were later taken on an on the spot inspection of the communities embroiled in the boundary disputes by the Chairman, Osun State Boundary Commission, Justice Mosh’ud Adeigbe (Rtd).

Other key officials of the state government on the inspection were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Boundary matters, Bar. Bukola Onifade,the Surveyor General of the State, Mr Soladoye Abioye and a Director in the office of the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Rafiu Oyelowo among others.

While at the palace of the Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdul-Raheed Adewale Akanbi on a courtesy call, the team lead of the National Boundary Commission, Mr. Oluwafemi Oshinnake, assured the royal father of finding lasting solutions to all the communities in disputes over boundary matters.

In his remarks which were full of appreciation to the officials of NBC from Abuja, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Raheed Olawale Akanbi acknowledged all the series of efforts put in place by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke to stem the tide of the aggravation of the crisis, which, according to Oluwo, would have been unfortunate and devasting.

The royal father, therefore, implored the NBC officials to put in place necessary peace modalities with a view to complimenting the ones already put in place by the Adeleke administration.
