Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has congratulated the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, on his birthday, describing him as a distinguished son of the state whose career in public service deserves recognition.

He noted in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, that though they may belong to different political camps, the celebration of life and service transcends partisan boundaries.

How words, “I join family, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate Barrister Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru on this special occasion of his birthday,” Adeleke stated. “While we may stand on opposing sides politically, I acknowledge and respect his service to our dear state at various levels.”

Adeleke highlighted Basiru’s journey from the legal profession into politics, noting that his determination, resilience, and deep commitment to public service have seen him rise through the ranks—from a legal practitioner and two-time commissioner in Osun State, to a Senator representing Osun Central, and now the National Secretary of Nigeria’s ruling party.

“His accomplishments reflect the grace of Almighty Allah and the fruits of consistent hard work, strategic networking, and resilience in the face of challenges,” the governor noted.

He added that politics should never be used as a tool for enmity but rather as a platform for constructive engagement and people-focused leadership. He expressed optimism that Osun State, and Nigeria at large, can only progress if political actors—regardless of party affiliations—prioritize unity, development, and shared prosperity over division.

“It is my prayer that Allah continues to bless him with good health, wisdom, and many more years of fruitful service,” Adeleke said. “I also hope that going forward, our political engagements will be defined not by bitterness and antagonism, but by the drive to unite and advance our people for the better.”

The Governor’s message has been widely praised by political observers as a demonstration of statesmanship and maturity—setting an example for other leaders to rise above partisanship in moments that call for mutual respect and unity.

Basiru, a native of Osogbo and a legal scholar, has been a prominent voice in the national political discourse and is regarded as one of the few public figures from Osun State to hold key leadership positions across different arms of government.

As tributes continue to pour in for the APC chieftain from across the political spectrum, Adeleke’s message underscores a growing call for political tolerance, peace, and a shared commitment to Osun’s development, regardless of party lines.
