Osun State Governor AdolavAdeleke has been e Accord Party has been formally cleared to participate in the Accord Party’s governorship primary election scheduled for today in Osogbo, the state capital.
He had decamped to the party from the Poples Democratic Party, beset with internal wrangling, a few days ago.
The governor, who appeared before the party’s screening committee, was confirmed to have met all requirements necessary for nomination.
Led by the National Organising Secretary, Elder Ibe Thankgod, the committee described the governor as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” after validating his documents and credentials.
According to Thankgod, the committee found no issues with the governor’s eligibility and subsequently cleared him as the sole aspirant for the party’s governorship ticket. He then presented Adeleke with an official certificate of clearance.
Responding after receiving the certificate, Adeleke expressed gratitude to the committee and the Accord Party’s leadership for what he described as a seamless and transparent process. He reaffirmed his readiness for both the party’s primary and the 2026 governorship election.
His words, “I am ready for the primary and I am ready for the general elections. We are winning by God’s grace.”
Members of the screening committee included Abdurahaman Muhammed, Abdulahi Sani Muhammed, and Mrs. Awogbade Rachael.
The Accord Party’s primary is expected to formally affirm Governor Adeleke as the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2026 governorship contest.
