Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has clinched the BusinessDay Award 2026 following the state’s emergence as one of Nigeria’s top-ranking states in Education and Human Capital Competitiveness.
The prestigious recognition, according to the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, will be formally presented at the 2026 States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA) scheduled to hold in Abuja.
Rasheed disclosed that Osun will be honoured for its education-driven reforms, which are reshaping classrooms, empowering youths, and strengthening the state’s long-term economic competitiveness.
An extensive assessment conducted by BusinessDay Newspapers revealed that Osun distinguished itself through measurable improvements in education delivery, youth development, skills acquisition, and sustainable human capital planning.
The ranking reflects concrete progress across public schools, technical institutions, and youth-focused initiatives implemented under the Adeleke administration.
Across both urban centres and rural communities, the impact of these reforms is increasingly evident. The state has recorded improved learning environments, renewed investment in teacher welfare, rehabilitation of public school infrastructure, and expanded support for vocational and technical education.
These interventions are equipping young people with relevant skills while restoring public confidence in government-owned schools.
Reacting to the honour, Adeleke described the award as a validation of his administration’s people-centred governance philosophy.
“This recognition belongs to the people of Osun. Our commitment has always been to invest in education and human capacity because that is the foundation of sustainable development.
“When our children are well taught and our youths are skilled, the future of Osun is secure,” the Governor stated.
Education stakeholders, community leaders, and development advocates across the state have welcomed the recognition, describing it as a clear indication that Osun is on the right path under a leadership that prioritises human development over political grandstanding.
From Osogbo to Ilesa, Ikire to the remotest communities across Osun Central, East, and West Senatorial Districts, residents continue to experience policies that translate governance into real social and economic opportunities.
The BusinessDay Award 2026 further cements Osun State’s growing reputation as a model of people-focused governance, where strategic investment in education and human capital is driving inclusive growth. Under Governor Ademola Adeleke, Osun is not only earning national recognition but also building lasting trust among its people.
