- Contractors move to site next week

Osun State Government has clarified that Governor Ademola Adeleke approved the reconstruction of Iwo–Osogbo Road since January 2025, dismissing reports suggesting that the project was only initiated in response to public agitation.
A statement signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the Governor, the government explained that Adeleke had long set machinery in motion for the road’s reconstruction, with the procurement process commencing nearly three months ago and recently concluded.
According to the statement, letters of award were issued to the contractors earlier this week, with all relevant documents delivered as of Thursday, August 28.
In preparation for the commencement of work, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Dr. B.T. Salami, also conducted a pre-work inspection visit to the site.
Contractors, the statement added, have begun mobilizing to site and are expected to commence work by Monday.
“The public is therefore urged to disregard any report suggesting that the Governor acted due to pressure or protest,” the statement noted.
The Governor, the spokesperson emphasized, has consistently shown commitment to the development of Iwoland, citing multiple infrastructure projects including the ongoing dualisation of Iwo township roads and now, the long-anticipated Iwo–Osogbo Road.
“Mr. Governor has demonstrated deep love for Iwoland and its people by addressing infrastructure challenges in the ancient town. He does not need any agitator or protest to do the right thing,” Rasheed stated.
He further reaffirmed the Governo’s promise to the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Iwo Board of Trustees, and other community leaders that all pending projects will be delivered as scheduled.
“His Excellency is walking the talk,” the statement affirmed.
