Adekunle Ajasin Varsity ex-VC, Femi Mimiko installed Gbobaniyi of Ondo

Honour

A former Vice- Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof Femi Mimiko, has been installed as the Gbobaniyi of Ondo, by the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Adesimbo Kiladejo.

Prof Mimiko is a younger brother of Ondo State former Governor, and candidate of Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, for Ondo Central Senatorial District in the coming senatorial election.

While congratulating his brother, the former Governor wrote: “Congratulations to you my brother, Prof. Femi Mimiko, mni, on your installation as the Gbobaniyi of Ondo Kingdom by the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, HRM Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo (Jilo III) in Ondo City.

We are so proud of you and your accomplishments.

This is wishing you and all the new Chiefs, God’s strength as you continue to contribute your quota to the development of our dear land.”

In his own message, Mr Olusegun Owolewa said: “The Yoruba cultural practices would first consider very well the antecedent of any individual who is to be honored with a chieftaincy title. The reason is that, such honour can not be bestowed on an unworthy fellow.

This is a means of protecting and preserving the institution. “Gbobanuyi”, a title which means to dignify or venerate the King, anywhere, is much like an ambassadorial title, which can not be bestowed on an ordinary person.

It is my considered opinion that, Prof Nazim Olufemi Mimiko is worthy of the title. He, like his elder brother, has projected Ondo kingdom well in Nigeria and beyond.

This honour will definitely serve as an inspiration to others to live an examplinary life anywhere they find themselves. This is an indication that a gold fish has no hidden place.

A big thank you to ‘Luaye’ (king) and the entire Ondo kingdom for recognizing the little contributions Prof ‘Femi has been able to make towards the development of the Kingdom and mankind in general.

I wish to congratulate Chief (Prof) Olufemi Mimiko, Gbobanuyi of Ondo Kingdom, on the well deserved honour”
