ADC national chairman, Mark, celebrates Obasanjo at 89

African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman and former Senate President, Senator David Mark, has congratulated former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on the occasion of his 89th birthday.

He described the former Nigerian leader as a statesman of remarkable courage, discipline, and enduring commitment to the unity, stability, and progress of Nigeria.

Mark, in a goodwill message issued on Thursday, noted that Obasanjo’s decades of service to the nation, both in military and civilian leadership had left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political history and democratic development.

His words, “Chief Olusegun Obasanjo remains one of the most prominent figures in Nigeria’s national journey. His dedication to nation-building, democratic governance and the pursuit of peace and stability in Africa continues to inspire generations of leaders.”

Mark added that the elder statesman’s wealth of experience, forthright counsel and consistent advocacy for good governance had continued to shape national discourse and strengthen democratic institutions.

He prayed for God’s continued grace, good health, and wisdom for the former President, noting that “Nigeria and the African continent still benefit greatly from his leadership experience and statesmanship.”

He said, “On behalf of the leadership and members of the African Democratic Congress, I congratulate Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on this remarkable milestone and wish him many more years of sound health, strength and service to humanity.”
